Week 8 of the 2024 NFL season came around and it featured the Minnesota Vikings hosting the visiting Los Angeles Rams. In a matter of weeks, however, it will not only be a tournament as both teams will play their last group games and aim to qualify for the knockout stage. Well, the picture was good with lots of action, drama and interests to keep the audiences on their toes. But let us go back to the action a little and focus on the major moments of the match.
The first half: With the Vikings strong
It was a good opening quarter for the Vikings offense as Kirk Cousins sparked a winning first drive courtesy of many passes to Justin Jefferson, the wide receiver of the Vikings. The good pair connected well with Jefferson on the airways throughout the quarter, with the latter however scoring with an acrobatic 30 yard catch. No antidote for aggressive Vikings offensive attack brought Minnesota out strong leading 7-0 at the halftime break.
But as it turned out, the opposing team had other ideas as they also fought back thanks to quarterback Matthew Stafford and the rest of the team’s offensive unit. The quarter back then orates how he employs both running and short passing techniques until he is in close range of kicking a field goal. We have also been introduced to the athletic skills of the Los Angeles kicker Brett Maher, who made a good kick, but the Vikings led the score with 7-3. The defense of the Vikings was aware that there was no way the Rams’ offense was going to get started so they turned up the level of aggressiveness on defense.
The second quarter saw the Rams carry on where they left off in the first quarter. And it was those plays that got Stafford cooking, finding wide receiver Cooper Kupp for multiple completions in a row against the Cardinals.
